


- As Director of The Arts Office, Ian's focus is on supporting and developing arts and cultural services for the North Shore community. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts and over 15 years experience working with municipalities in the arts and culture field, Ian's career has taken him to Fort St. John, Kelowna, and the City of Burnaby where he was Arts Services Manager with responsibility for the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.
- A North Vancouver native, Lori Phillips was trained in visual arts and holds a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. With over twenty years experience in the field of Arts Administration, Lori has developed expertise in a broad range of cultural areas including: cultural policy development, administering cultural grant programs, community capacity building and advocacy. As Public Art Coordinator, her professional energy has been focused exclusively on managing, commissioning, and promoting North Vancouver’s sizable public art collection which is delivered to the community under three distinct program streams: Civic, Community and Developer Public Art.
- Since graduating from UBC with an MA in 1992, John's work-life experiences have taken in: publishing (briefly), professional marketing (a source of great technical interest), arts marketing (adding personal satisfaction), sanitation (smelly), conflict resolution ("where I finally learned to listen"), sports youth development and college-level teaching (both endlessly rewarding). In 2001, after moving to the North Shore, John began work with the District of North Vancouver in a variety of arts administration and economic development roles, and - over the past nine years - he is proud to have been associated with the growth and development of the local arts scene. During his time at the District, John: helped to draft the District's first Master Plan for Public Art in 2001 and subsequently managed the growth of the program; contributed to the development and implementation of the North Vancouver Cultural Plan since 2002; and played a role in the recent establishment of a North Shore destination marketing partnership.
- A seasoned arts administrator, Barb has been involved in programming, production, and cultural planning at the municipal and provincial level for a number of years. Prior to joining The Arts Office, Barb was Manager of Arts at 2010 Legacies Now where she oversaw funding programs designed to strengthen arts, heritage and cultural organizations across British Columbia. She has held senior management positions with major orchestras in Winnipeg and Vancouver, worked in the media arts program at Banff Centre, and taught in the Arts Management program at Confederation College in Thunder Bay. Her work with educational institutions has included the University of Victoria's Cooperative Education Program and B.C.'s Open Learning Agency and Knowledge Network where she was Manager of Marketing, Sales and Licensing. An active musician, Barb plays violin and serves as a volunteer on the board of a large community orchestra in Vancouver.
