Applications for artists for the 2012 Filberg Festival in Comox on Vancouver Island are now available on the Filberg Festival website. Since its beginnings 29 years ago, the principal objective of the Filberg Festival has been to encourage excellence in all forms of arts and crafts, and to assist in the promotion and sale of quality work.
November 2011 - The North Vancouver Community Arts Council seeks submissions for exhibitions at CityScape Community Art Space. We accept proposals from all members of the community. Artists are welcome to submit individually or as part of a group. Deadline for submissions: Saturday, January 21, 2012, 4:30pm
September 2011 - The Lynn Valley Village Busking Program invites musicians, dancers, jugglers, mimes, and other creative practitioners to share their talents with the Lynn Valley community. Busking hopefuls can apply for a Village Use Permit through the District of North Vancouver.
September 2011 - The North Shore Chorus welcomes new singers. The group meets Wednesdays, 7:15-9:45pm at Mt. Seymour United Church, 1200 Parkgate Ave., North Vancouver.
September 2011 - North Shore Writers Association invites writers of all genres, fiction and non-fiction to read their work in a friendly, comfortable atmosphere, and to listen to other writers share their work and talk about the writing process. Free for members, non-members by donation.
September 2011 - The North Shore Chamber Orchestra is an amateur music ensemble looking for new string players. The group rehearses Wednesdays, 7:30-9:30pm at Sutherland Secondary, 1860 Sutherland, North Vancouver.
September 2011 - The Ambleside Orchestra begins its 20th season under the musical direction of Nicolas Krusek. There are opportunities for some string players. Rehearsals begin on Wednesday, September 7th from 3:30-5:30pm at Highlands United Church, 3255 Edgemont Blvd, North Vancouver. Yearly fees are $150 (adults) $75 (students). Established in 1995, the purpose of FANS is to increase the public’s understanding and appreciation of the arts through a variety of programs. Each year the Society accepts applications for the Don S. Williams Award that recognizes the artistic contributions and accomplishment of North Shore artists who have demonstrated a maturity of talent.
