The Gordon Smith Gallery of Canadian Art had its official opening October 13, 2012. Located on the former Lonsdale School site at 21st Street and Lonsdale Avenue, this 14,000 square foot, purpose built education centre is the new home of Artists for Kids and the Smith Foundation. The Gallery will be the first in the country dedicated to young audiences, and solely features contemporary Canadian art.

The Gallery's collection contains some of our country’s greatest contemporary artists, including founding patrons Gordon Smith, Jack Shadbolt and Bill Reid, as well as Robert Davidson, Angela Grossman, E.J. Hughes, Kenojuak Ashevak, Joe Fafard, Betty Goodwin, Michael Snow, Rodney Graham, Toni Onley and Guido Molinari. The collection contains works from almost 50 artists and 500 pieces of Canadian art, valued at more than $2.5 million.

The Gordon Smith Gallery of Canadian Art is proudly supported by The Smith Foundation. The Gordon and Marion Smith Foundation is building a legacy of appreciation for great Canadian art and artists through its support for the Artists for Kids educational programs and stewardship of the Artists for Kids art collection.
