  • A big thank you to all who came to the North Shore Culture Days INFO+IDEAS session last month. Thanks also goes out to those who couldn't make the session but have confirmed their interest in participating in this year's celebrations. There was lots of discussion about creative partnering, e.g., painting demos in hotel lobbies; food demos in artist studios; public art bicycle tours; and community storytelling. North Shore Culture Days happens September 27, 28, 29, 2013 in creative spaces and places from Deep Cove to Horseshoe Bay. Clearly, the creative juices are beginning to flow!

  • Artist, upcycler extraordinaire, and web designer at the City of North Vancouver, local arts maven Denise Corcoran can now add the title of Cultural Ambassador to her growing list of credits. In response to a Call for Artists put out by the BC Culture Days Task Force, Denise was chosen to represent British Columbia at the inaugural Culture Days National Congress in Toronto happening at the end of May. In addition to connecting with artists and community organizers from across the country, Denise will have plenty of time to wave the flag for Culture Days activities happening across BC.... including, of course, our very own North Shore Culture Days celebrations.

  • This North Vancouver-based community orchestra has been stepping out this spring with a series of outreach concerts here on the North Shore – and beyond! The NSCO's first stop was the St. James Music Academy, a music education program in east Vancouver that offers top notch training for youth at no cost. In addition to being impressed by the high quality of playing, NSCO members described the St. James musicians as being "very welcoming and smiley.”
