TELUS Community Boards are an innovative effort that puts decision-making in the hands of local leaders who know their communities best. Since inception in 2006, the TELUS Vancouver Community Board has donated $3.8 million to 313 projects. In 2010, it donated $600,000 to 49 projects. For 2011, the Board has an annual donation budget of $800,000.

The Vancouver Community Board receives more applications than can be considered, which means there is strong competition for our donations. To make funding decisions that meet critical needs in our city, programs that fill an immediate need in the community have a greater chance of board approval than those that are less urgent.

In addition to the standard TELUS Community Board funding criteria, the TELUS Vancouver Community Board has further criteria for charities. To be considered for a donation, programs must:

  • Focus on youth; and
  • Have not yet begun. Please apply at least six months prior to the beginning of your program.

To help determine if your program fits our giving scope, please review the criteria the Vancouver board uses when vetting applications:

Arts and culture:

  • drive social change and build relationships
  • continued emphasis on youth and, where applicable, technology
  • tickets/audience attendance are acceptable IF the tickets are part of a purposeful curriculum that supports school/youth group activity.

APPLICATION DEADLINES:

  • February 8
  • May 4
  • August 23
  • October 26
