Fairborne Capstone Homes will host the official unveiling of a new public art work entitled Nebula Garden on Monday, December 1, 2014, 3:00 pm at 135 West Second Street in North Vancouver. Located within the new residential development designed by architect Dirk Buttjes, Nebula Garden is a 40’ long cast glass painting by artists Claudia Cuesta and Bill Baker of art.site©.

Inspired by the former Electric Marine building located on the site, Nebula Garden explores the idea of electricity as fluid energy, an ephemeral condition where everything exists only in the moment and ceases to be, and is then transformed into something that is continually reinterpreted.  Realized in cast glass, the artwork infuses the space with renewed vitality by stimulating the senses as it captures light, inviting the viewer to a place of softness, permeability and reflection.

Claudia Cuesta has an MFA from The Slade School of fine Art UK and Bill Baker is a residential designer and urban planner. Together as art.site©they have created public art works locally and internationally that use metaphor as a poetic device to de-institutionalize the perception of art, and create a platform that affects the narrative of place and personal history.

Nebula Gardenwas commissioned by Fairborne Homes Ltd, in collaboration with the City of North Vancouver.
