Description:

Inter-River Sports Park entryway and baseball backstops are adorned with a variety of colourful shapes and sculptural forms. The artist's creation consists of abstract shapes made from fence materials, which are attached to the fencing and the backstops. Says Kazmer: “I wanted to evoke natural elements such as the river and mountains, but I was also fascinated by the notion of transformation - of what the site once was and what it is now ... Inter River Park now has an entryway that is both visually stimulating and unique.”

About the Artist:

Karen Kazmer works with a diverse range of materials in her sculpture, installations and public art. She received her BFA from UBC and her MFA from York University. She has taught at Emily Carr University and York University and her work has been exhibited in group and solo shows in Canada and the United States.
