Description:

A collection of six stainless steel paddles (and one oar), modeled on indigenous cultures from around the world, create an allegorical piece that tells the story of migration and settlement on a scale ranging from the geological to the more intimate and human. While the paddles have cultural significance to many far-flung corners of the world, they have now found a place to rest on a collection of erratic boulders which themselves traveled to this site on glaciers that covered the North Shore many thousands of years ago. Together the paddles and boulders shape a restful shelter around a gentle water feature.
