Artist Among Us - Louise Ranger, Business & Art

At the end of a busy day, the President & General Manager of North Vancouver's Chamber of Commerce loves to do nothing more than pick up a brush and immerse herself in her latest landscape painting project.  Since a young age, Louise Ranger has been involved in the world of business, but a trip to Europe's renowned cultural capitals changed everything.

In the fall of 2010, Louise travelled to France and Italy. After visiting the Louvre in Paris and the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel, she was overtaken by a strange desire to try her own hand at landscape painting. Upon her return to North Vancouver, she signed up for an Acrylic Painting for Beginners class and the rest, as they say, is history! Louise has been painting ever since.

"What I love about painting is how I get completely lost in the art and lose track of all thought and time. It's almost like being in a trance. The end result is always a shock to me and sometimes I honestly can’t remember how I did it!

Louise hopes to take more art lessons to learn better technique and maybe one day see her paintings exhibited in a real art gallery. We hope so too and wish her all the best as she pursues her artistic passion.

Artists Among Us

The Artists Among Us series shines a spotlight on North Shore municipal workers and community members and the talent or artistic passions that they pursue outside of their day jobs. The stories are intended to provide inspiration and encouragement and to make us aware of the creativity that surrounds us every day.
