Program: Travel Grants to Professional Musicians (Individuals)

 

Program description:
This program offers an individual music professional, involved in classical or popular traditions music of all world cultures, an opportunity to travel on occasions important to his or her career. Professional musicians include instrumentalists, singers, composers, arrangers, performers, conductors and singers/songwriters. Music professionals include artistic directors and opera stage directors.

 

Program eligibility:
Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada. Permanent residents must provide evidence of their legal status. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Program: Travel Grants to Media Arts Professionals


Program description:
This program has two components: Travel Grants to Media Artists and Travel Grants to Media Arts Critics, Curators and Programmers. The Canada Council for the Arts defines the media arts as works in film, video, audio and new media.

 

Program eligibility:
Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada. They need not be living in Canada when they apply. Applicants must also meet the Canada Council for the Arts’ definition of a professional. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Program description:

Program: Music Festival Travel Grants

 

Program description:
Music Festival Travel Grants assist professional Canadian musicians to perform at festivals, outside their province or territory of residence, at which they have not previously performed. This assistance is designed to introduce experienced artists to new audiences and artists at an early stage of their career to a wider public.

 

Program eligibility:
Professional artists who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada may apply. Professional solo musicians, groups, bands, ensembles and collectives performing repertoire from classical and non-classical traditions are eligible. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Program: Integrated Arts Program for Arts Professionals: Travel Grants


Program description:
Travel Grants to Inter-Arts Professionals assist Canadian inter-arts creators and independent critics and curators to travel on occasions important to the development of their artistic practice or career. These grants are intended for professional artists working in performance art, interdisciplinary work or new artistic practices (including artists and community collaboration in one of these three practices).

 

Program eligibility:
The program provides two categories of support: Presentation Travel, which allows artists to travel with their work and to respond to invitations to present their work at recognized Canadian or international festivals or presentation venues outside their home region; and, Professional Development Travel, which allows artists to attend workshops, residencies, symposiums and conferences and/or to participate in other professional development opportunities outside their home region. Program: Travel Grants to Theatre Artists


Program description:
The Travel Grants to Theatre Artists program assists with travel costs for professional Canadian theatre artists. It assists them to accept invitations to attend Canadian or foreign premieres of their work, to accept prizes, or to participate as workshop leaders or guest speakers at conventions or conferences.

Program: Travel Grants for Professional Writers

 

Program description:
Travel Grants enable writers and translators to respond to invitations on occasions that are of great importance to their career, such as being a keynote speaker at an international conference or a large international festival, being the guest of honour at an important book fair abroad, or receiving official international honours or prizes. Prestigious residencies in artists’ colonies, for which the applicant has been selected and has received financial support, are also eligible for Travel Grant funding.

 

Program eligibility:
Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada. They must be recognized professional writers who have had: at least one book published by a professional publishing house; OR for fiction, a minimum of four texts of creative writing (e.g. short stories, excerpts from a novel) published on two separate occasions in literary magazines, recognized periodicals (including certain electronic periodicals or consumer magazines) or anthologies published by professional publishing houses; OR for poetry, a minimum of 10 published poems is required; OR for literary non-fiction, a minimum of 40 pages (10,000 words) of articles published in literary magazines, recognized periodicals or anthologies that are published by professional publishing houses. Program: Travel Grants to Professionals in the Visual Arts

 

Program description:
The Visual Arts Section of the Canada Council for the Arts provides a range of grants to recognize and support the independent creative work of professional Canadian artists of all cultures.

 

Program eligibility:
These grants are intended for artists and independent critics and curators working in the following art forms: visual arts including fine craft and architecture. Travel Grants to Professionals in the Visual Arts contribute toward expenses incurred to travel to an event important to the artist’s, critic’s or curator’s career. Three categories of support are provided under this program: Presentation Travel, Travel to Artists’ Residencies and Research-Related Travel.

The objective of this program is to enhance the production and dissemination of Canadian theatre artworks in Canada. Program: Arts and Culture Responsive Grants


Program description:
The Foundation occasionally helps young artists and groups of artists from developing Commonwealth countries to travel to another Commonwealth country to participate in cultural events.

Program: International Showcasing Program


Program description:
No need to apply. This program assists Canadian artists with travel and accommodation costs to perform at some foreign music conferences (call or e-mail for details). The Foundation contacts those artists invited by the conferences. (Request International Showcasing Criteria).

 

Program eligibility:
Canadian solo acts, duos or bands that include at least one member who is a member of SOCAN will be contacted by the Foundation in the weeks preceding each international music conference. Further eligibility requirements may apply.
